Toy Workshop 9-30-2017

Saturday September 30th, 2017: 9 am to Noon – Toy Workshop at CFB Shop

The fourth week of our fall toy-making marathon!

Warm weather returned to the Hills today, so we could setup routers and sanders outside again. We started bilding tugboats, finished up parts for basketball games, completed a small project for the Club for Boys, and finished a large number of wheeled toys. Last week we ran out of wheels. Today we had wheels left over and ran out of toys.

Activities:
Critters:
Sand flat sides with stationary belt sander
Router edges with trim routers on tables using 1/8″ round-over bits

Sanding – toys with Rigid Sander
   Project for CFB: Trace, cut, sand, and router: Buffalo Cutouts(20)
   Tugboats:
        Cut, sand, and router boats
        Build cabins – two parts, one drilled at 15 degrees for stacks, glued and nailed
        Sand/shape fronts of cabins
        Setup to drill holes for rope ties
   Basketball games:
        Launchers and hoops sanded by hand
        Backboards drilled for posts
        Bases (milled, sanded, routered at home garages) transferred to next operation
        Bases cut (for next year at home shop) using repurposed cherry cabinet doors
   Helicopters – rotors cut on CNC last week, rotors installed on helicopters today (60)
   Ring toss games – attaching string/ring to sticks turned on the lathe
   Wheeled toys – Installing wheels on toys – three wheel presses set up
Inventory of completed toys: count/label/record/box up/transport
